EcoMer is a unique biosynthetic macromer composed entirely of biodegradable content (sugar). Sugar macromers are considered "generally recognized as safe" and contain no VOCs, which make them much safer to use than traditional petrochemical monomers. EcoMer is an effective substitute for potentially damaging and non-renewable petrochemicals and it provides an innovative building block platform to provide entirely new bio-based products through the use of varying polymerization conditions and techniques.
With the uncertain cost of petrochemicals like acrylate and vinyl monomers, EcoMer provides a new platform for developing paints, inks and toners at a predictable cost.
