EcoSphere® 2202 is
a new commerically-available biobased latex product
(equivalent to the experimental EcoSphere® 92202 grade)
that consists of cross-linked biopolymer nanoparticles.
It exhibits ultra-high shear stability similar to SB
and SA Latex and shows great potential as a versatile
coating binder. It offers excellent compatibility with
petroleum-based binders such as SB and SA Latex for
paper and paperboard applications, and cobinders such
as starch and protein, as well as pigments and other
coating additives. EcoSphere® 2202
is supplied as a dry agglomerate powder that is readily
dispersed in water using conventional mixing equipment.
Coating trial quantities can be supplied upon request.
EcoSphere® provides
an excellent balance of properties for web offset and
gravure publication paper grades. It also performs
well in formulations for web and sheet offset
grades. It contains no VOCs and does
not yellow when exposed to UV light.
